Biography
Noah is introduced as a righteous man in his generation who walked with God . God told him that the earth was filled with violence and commanded him to build an ark for himself, his household, and living creatures .
The flood came in Noah's 600th year, and Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives entered the ark . After the waters subsided, Noah built an altar and offered burnt offerings, and God made a covenant with Noah and his sons .
The line traced here continues through Shem, one of Noah's sons . Luke also names Noah in the genealogy that runs toward Jesus .
