Biography

Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah when Abraham was 100, after Yahweh had visited Sarah as he promised . Abraham circumcised Isaac on the 8th day as God had commanded him .

When God tested Abraham, Isaac was placed on the altar at Moriah, and the angel of Yahweh stopped Abraham before the knife fell . After Sarah's death, Abraham sent his servant to his kindred, and Rebekah became Isaac's wife .

Isaac prayed for Rebekah because she was barren, Yahweh answered him, and she conceived twins . Esau and Jacob were born when Isaac was 60 .

Yahweh appeared to Isaac during famine, told him not to go down to Egypt, promised the land and offspring sworn to Abraham, and blessed him in Gerar . In old age, Isaac blessed Jacob while thinking he was blessing Esau, and later confirmed that Jacob would be blessed . Isaac died at 180, and Esau and Jacob buried him .
