James son of Alphaeus is the apostle who must be distinguished from James son of Zebedee and from other men named James Matthew 10:2-3.
His name appears in all four apostolic rosters, and Scripture gives no further narrative about his individual acts in Acts Mark 3:18 Luke 6:15 Acts 1:13.
James is not in the line to Jesus.
