Manasseh

Manasseh son of Hezekiah became king at 12 and reigned 55 years in Jerusalem 2 Kings 21:1. He rebuilt high places, made altars for Baal, made an Asherah, worshiped the host of heaven, and put altars in Yahweh's house 2 Kings 21:2-7.

Under Manasseh, Judah did more evil than the nations Yahweh had destroyed before Israel 2 Kings 21:9. Prophetic judgment fell against Jerusalem, and Manasseh shed very much innocent blood 2 Kings 21:10-16.

Chronicles adds that Manasseh was taken with hooks to Babylon, humbled himself, prayed, and was brought back to Jerusalem 2 Chronicles 33:10-13. After his return, he removed foreign gods and the idol from Yahweh's house and commanded Judah to serve Yahweh 2 Chronicles 33:14-17. Matthew names Manasseh between Hezekiah and Amon in the genealogy of Jesus Matthew 1:10.
