Biography

Jehoshaphat son of Asa reigned over Judah for 25 years and walked in the way of Asa his father . Chronicles connects his early strength with seeking Yahweh and walking in the earlier ways of David .

His reign included a teaching mission through Judah, with officials, Levites, and priests carrying the book of Yahweh's law through the cities . He also allied himself by marriage with Ahab and went with him to Ramoth Gilead, where prophetic warning preceded Ahab's death .

When Moab, Ammon, and others threatened Judah, Jehoshaphat sought Yahweh, prayed in the temple court, and appointed singers before the army; Judah then found its enemies already overthrown . He made peace with Israel, removed remaining male cult prostitutes, died, and was succeeded by Jehoram his son .
