Biography
Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat reigned 8 years in Jerusalem during the same era as Joram son of Ahab in Israel . His marriage into Ahab's house frames the judgment on his reign, since he walked in the way of Israel's kings and did evil in Yahweh's sight .
After strengthening himself, Jehoram killed all his brothers and some princes of Israel . Edom and Libnah revolted from Judah's rule during his reign .
Philistine and Arabian raiders came against him, taking goods, wives, and sons, leaving only Jehoahaz the youngest . Jehoram died of a severe bowel disease, and his people made no royal burning for him like the burning made for his fathers . Matthew names Joram between Jehoshaphat and Uzziah in the genealogy of Jesus .
