Jehoram
King
Biography
Jehoram, also called Joram, was son of Ahab and began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the 18th year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah . He reigned 12 years, did evil in Yahweh's sight, removed the pillar of Baal that Ahab had made, and still clung to the sins of Jeroboam I .
After Moab rebelled, Jehoram went out with Jehoshaphat of Judah and the king of Edom against Moab, and Elisha announced Yahweh's help because of Jehoshaphat . The campaign pushed Moab back until the king of Moab offered his eldest son on the wall, after which great wrath came against Israel and the army withdrew .
Later Joram was wounded fighting Hazael of Syria at Ramoth gilead and went to Jezreel to heal, where Ahaziah of Judah came to see him . Jehu found him at Jezreel, shot him with an arrow, and had his body thrown into the field of Naboth .
