Biography

Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king over Israel in the 23rd year of Joash king of Judah and reigned 17 years in Samaria . He did evil in Yahweh's sight and followed the sins of Jeroboam I .

Yahweh gave Israel into the hand of Hazael king of Syria and Ben hadad son of Hazael, and Jehoahaz sought Yahweh's favor . Yahweh gave Israel a savior so that they escaped Syria's hand, but they did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam and the Asherah remained in Samaria .

The army left to Jehoahaz was reduced to 50 horsemen, 10 chariots, and 10000 foot soldiers because the king of Syria had destroyed them . Jehoahaz died, was buried in Samaria, and was succeeded by Jehoash his son .
