Biography

Jotham son of Uzziah reigned 16 years in Jerusalem during the era of Pekah in Israel . He did what was right in Yahweh's eyes according to what Uzziah had done, though the high places remained .

His building work included the upper gate of Yahweh's house, construction on the wall of Ophel, and cities, forts, and towers in Judah . He fought the Ammonites, received tribute from them, and became mighty because he ordered his ways before Yahweh .

Pressure from the king of Syria and Pekah began in Jotham's days . Jotham died and Ahaz his son reigned after him . Matthew names Jotham between Uzziah and Ahaz in the genealogy of Jesus .
